Diversity

At The Stony Brook School, diversity is a fundamental aspect of our identity and ethos.

Our community thrives on the richness of a student body that hails from 30 countries and represents many ethnicities, backgrounds, and languages. We believe that diversity fosters a vibrant exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences that enhances the educational journey for every student. Whether it's through classroom discussions, extracurricular activities, or cultural events, our students have the opportunity to engage with and learn from individuals who bring unique insights shaped by their national and ethnic identities.

Through the emphasis of Diversity, Unity, and Belonging, we strive to educate our community about our various differences, equitably support one another inside of those differences, and foster a community where everyone can thrive with their differences.

We host affinity groups that allow students to learn, connect, support one another, and celebrate their various cultural practices. From the Asian Student Union to the Black Student Union and the Hispanic Student Union, these organizations serve as pillars of support and celebration, contributing to a sense of belonging within our community.

Throughout the school year, we honor cultural traditions and holidays from around the world, as well as engage in relevant discussions about race and ethnicity, fostering an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experience. Our goal is to see everyone as equally valuable and their unique differences as an opportunity to learn from and love them more intentionally and deeply. .
