The Stony Brook School has helped me learn more about faith and how to use faith to face challenges in life. Knowing that I could talk and learn about faith with most of the faculty members has been beneficial and I learned a lot from it.

Coming to the school was a crucial point for me, since the schedule is organised in a way that allows time that can be dedicated to faith.

Chapel services, dorm prayer and faith and culture class, in my opinion are a main foundation for the school, and they are very important for students that want to expand their faith.

In my opinion SBS has a very particular culture. The motto "Character Before Career" is always followed, because the school spends a lot of time in emphasising character development, while still excelling in both academics and athletics.

Every activity in the school has the goal to teach something new, and I learned many values from them. All the leadership positions and work jobs play an important role in the school culture.

Students have other responsibilities other than only striving for athletics and academics, and they have the opportunity to serve others, which I think is a key value that should be emphasised in life.

Although I cam from Italy to play basketball at The Stony Brook School, I developed interest in crew. I could never imagine to start another sport, since I'd played basketball for my whole life and I wanted to continue in college.

I soon found out I was talented in rowing and slowly transitioned from being a basketball player to think about rowing in college. I stayed in the United States over the summer to get more practice which helped me to earn a spot to the best college rowing team in the country.

I'm very thankful for The Stony Brook School that gave me the opportunity to start a new journey that has definitely changed my life, and for all the time that I received from the college counsellors who made my dream possible.

The Stony Brook School is an independent college preparatory school (grades 7-12) that exists to challenge young men and women to know Jesus Christ as Lord, to love others as themselves, and to grow in knowledge and skill, in order that they may serve the world through their character and leadership.

Our picturesque 55-acre campus, located near the Long Island Sound, offers an inspiring environment for learning and growth. With multiple dorms, state-of-the-art academic and athletic facilities, students have ample opportunities to explore their interests and develop their skills.

The campus is a short drive to the Long Island Ferry and close proximity to New York City and JFK international airport. The Stony Brook train station is directly across the street from the main gate.
